Kinesiotape

Kinesio Taping gives support and stability to your joints and muscles without affecting circulation and range of motion. It is also used for Preventive Maintenance, Edema, and Pain Management.

The tape usually lasts 3-5 days, and is waterproof.

Kinesio Taping is a technique based on the body's own natural healing process. This Kinesio Taping exhibits its efficacy through the activation of neurological and circulatory systems. This method basically stems from the science of Kinesiology, hence the name "Kinesio". Muscles are not only attributed to the movements of the body but also control the circulation of venous and lymph flows, body temperature, etc. Therefore, the failure of the muscles to function properly induces various kinds of symptoms.

Kinesio Tape is used for anything from headaches to foot problems and everything in between. Examples include: muscular facilitation or inhibition in pediatric patients, carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back strain/pain (subluxations, herniated disc), knee conditions, shoulder conditions, hamstring, groin injury, rotator cuff injury, whiplash, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, patella tracking, pre and post surgical edema, ankle sprains, athletic preventative injury method, and as a support method

Ultrasound

Yes, doctors use ultrasound to look at babies in the bellies of expectant mothers. But this technology is also used by chiropractors and therapists to generate vibrations deep in the body’s tissues.

These vibrations can help treat pain conditions and spur cell regeneration, speeding up the healing process. At Barnett Chiropractic & Acupuncture Clinic, we use this therapy to help relieve chronic and acute pain for our patients.

Ultrasound therapy is used to minimize muscle pain and movement dysfunction. Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves to deliver deep heat to the treated tissues. The treatments may help reduce stiffness, swelling, and pain, increase circulation, and promote pain-free movement.

Ultrasound therapy may be used alone or in conjunction with stretching, electric muscle stimulation, therapeutic massage, heat, or gentle chiropractic manipulation. Ultrasound therapy is a painless procedure, and many people find it relaxing.

Electric Muscle Stimulation

Electrical muscle stimulation is used to treat injuries that affect the muscles in order to shorten healing time. Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS), or muscle stim, is a Chiropractic Therapy normally used on a patient who has a lot of pain or spasm in the area of injury or complaint. When Electrical Muscle Stimulation is performed, mild electrical current is applied to cause fast contraction to the muscles.

Muscle Stim is a the therapy that involves a low level of electrical impulses delivered to the injured area to help reduce pain, spasms, and improve healing.

The fast contractions of the muscle experienced during this Chiropractic Therapy help to fatigue the muscle and allow it to relax, calming the spasm. The fast contractions also cause the body to release endorphins. The endorphins are the body’s natural painkillers, and so they help to reduce pain sensation to the area.

Often described by patients as a pleasant, “tingling” sensation, or “electrical massage” these impulses stimulate the body to release natural pain relievers, called endorphins. These endorphins reduce pain and inflammation, thereby promoting faster healing of the injured tissues. This therapy is often used to treat acute or chronic pain, as well as strains or sprains of the muscles, joints, and soft tissues of the spine and extremities..
